To me, this is the way life works. The big sea is our world – the currents of politics, ideologies, governments, rulers, kings and tyrants. Each individual human is on his own surfboard, surfing to the shore. Each lifetime is us catching the wave.
The surfer’s skill is to keep on going – elegantly – no matter the size of the wave. Surfing skills develop over many many trials on many different waves, over a long time.
Living and surfing takes practise. We are only at home in the sea because we have learned to surf in on the wave. We are only at home on land because we have practised living a life over many incarnations.
Fundamentally, we are spiritual creatures learning how to be human. To survive well, we need to be able to surf the tides of History…
